This year, instead of holding the annual 10k and other races, there will be the opportunity to participate in a virtual running event organised in conjunction with Alton Runners. The idea is to get as many members of the community involved as possible whilst the Government guidelines do not allow the usual style of race to go ahead. With this in mind, a new 2k category has been created which would be ideal for children to run and families to do together and will mean that you can participate whilst walking your dog or taking a stroll with the buggy. There is no pressure in this category to submit a time, but anyone who registers will still be provided with a medal.
In the 10k and 5k category, there is an option for participants to submit their data either via Strava or from a Garmin device so you can pick your best time during the month of June and see where you rank! Again, all entrants will be sent a medal.
Entries are currently open and the running event will run from 1st - 30th June 2020. The first fifty people to register will receive a commemorative VE75 medal and those who register after this will receive a distance medal.
The virtual event is £5 for each entrant regardless of which distance you choose and all proceeds from event sales and donations received will go to Help For Heroes, which was the chosen charity for the VE75 Celebrations that were due to be held on 8th May.
